Current Focus
I’m currently working primarily with ink, watercolor, and gouache, creating original drawings on paper inspired by calm, place-based scenes. I’m exploring harbours, seaside views, and quiet interiors — spaces shaped by people but momentarily still. My focus is on atmosphere, detail, and a slower way of observing.
I have also challenged myself to look into different themes which I publish weekly on Instagram. You can check my account annecraftsdesigns. Examples are provided from the past few months, looking at animals, insects and autumn and winter themes. More watercolor, gouache and artwork this way Watercolor & Gouache
How I work
I absolutely love starting my creations with a hand-drawn sketch, whether it’s in pencil or ink using a fountain pen with sepia ink! Then comes the fun part—layering on colours with watercolour or gouache, where I get to play with softness and light! The transparency of watercolour combined with the rich opacity of gouache is just magical! I’m drawn to small formats that invite a closer look, making every detail exciting! I also tend to focus on A5/A4 designs to draw and paint on the go, carrying a sketchbook in my bag and a few pencil cases with my tools.
With a busy family and a full-time Project Manager role, every minute counts, but I’ve set up a second desk in my home office just for my art! It’s the perfect spot to leave my paintings unfinished until I can dive back in. When you’re passionate about something, you find ways to fit it into your life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Earlier Work & Ongoing influences
Alongside my current painting practice, my background includes cyanotype, linocut and digital illustration. These processes continue to influence my approach to composition, repetition, and print. Selected earlier work is still available, and I enjoy letting past and present techniques inform one another. You can follow the links below for more details.
I update this page occasionally as my work develops. If you'd like to hear about new pieces you can also head to my Instagram page or if you have a question about my work, you're very welcome to get in touch using the form below.
